🌿 Publisher's Review:
🌟 The Golden Ages 🌟
About family love... and the death of scientific thought in our Islamic world... and the death of the last scientist produced by Islamic civilization... We accompany the Ottoman merchant Siraj al-Din on his journey to Sant'Angelo... and listen to his tales about his genius teacher Taqi al-Din al-Shami, which he recounts to the Italian engineer Giovanni Branca... so that he can learn from him how to build the steam engine... which was the beginning of moving all of Europe...
🌿 My Opinion:
I really don't know what to write about this novel... It gave me a great shock...
A historical shock mixed with pride and glory alongside sadness and disappointment...
I had never heard of the scientist Taqi al-Din al-Shami before... even though he truly, as the book's title says, "Al-Shami Moves Europe"
The novel captivated me from its first lines... and I couldn't put it down until I finished it before diving into researching scientific and historical articles about this exceptional scientist whose knowledge formed a clear turning point in the history of Islamic civilization's sciences...
Is he an astronomer? Or an astrologer? Or an engineer? Or a doctor? Or a philosopher? Or an inventor? Or what exactly is he?
A man classified in his era as the greatest scientist in the world... and most of us haven't heard of him!
And to add to that... many modern inventions rely on his knowledge, of which only about a quarter of his books have survived to the present day...
This scientist who was caught between his desire to build his observatory and a dilemma... the Sultan who wished to know the science of the stars "astrology" to know the fate of his sultanate... and the Mufti who rejected any science related to astronomy, believing it to be inevitably astrology and not science...
A novel worth reading... and worth emphasizing the issue of astrology, belief in which led to the demise of many lives...
The events in the story are real, and you can refer to the sources...
With characters and events from the author's imagination to complete the novel in this creative way...
I would like to note here that parents should read the book with young people for its benefit... I would also like to note that "Grand Vizier" mentioned in the novel was a historical title for the Sultan's advisor...
An enjoyable and beneficial read❤️
