๐ก About Patience ๐ก
๐ฟ I didn't find anything better than Seham Obaid's review, which I'm sharing with you.
And I'll add a note at the end about a significant moral benefit from the story โค๏ธ
The Reviewโค๏ธ
๐ When I introduced the (Pumpkin) unit to my children three years ago, I couldn't find any story in Arabic about pumpkins. We read stories in English at the time, and I wrote a few lines in Arabic about pumpkins for my little one, who was learning to read back then.
And here is the story (Fateen and the Pumpkin), which is the perfect story I wished for at that time to read and discuss with my little ones.

๐ About the Story:
The story takes place in a beautiful and peaceful village full of farms and trees, with the sounds of chirping birds echoing in the air.
A young boy named Fateen lives there. He loves his village and also loves helping his elderly neighbor with farming and caring for livestock.
She teaches him how to plant pumpkin seeds, and he waits for days, weeks, and months for the pumpkins to grow until his patience runs out and he feels despair. But in the end, after a long wait, the pumpkins finally emerge, and Fateen rejoices. He takes one to his mother to cook for him, but he keeps the seeds and takes them to his elderly neighbor, who teaches him many diverse ways to use them.

๐ Ideas included in the story and inspired activities:
๐ A complete lesson about pumpkins can be presented to children based on this story as an introduction to all those lessons and activities, just as I presented it to my children before:
* Parts of a pumpkin
* Pumpkin life cycle
* Science experiment time >> where children learn practically >> counting pumpkin seeds >> determining if a pumpkin floats or sinks >> measuring the length and weight of the pumpkin... etc.
* The pumpkin in our Islamic religion and the story of the Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him)
You can view all the religious, scientific, linguistic, mathematical, and English lessons related to the (Pumpkin) unit on our blog (I will put the link in the comments below).
๐ Learning about village life >> what people's lives are like, what jobs they do, what the village looks like, what animals are there... etc.
๐ Learning about the quality of (patience) >> which we talked about in the previous story (The Crocodile Needs to Wait), and learning to be patient, and that farming requires a lot of patience and perseverance to harvest the fruit in the end.
๐ Learning about the appropriate times for planting different trees, and learning about harvest times... Autumn is famous for harvesting many fruits, including pumpkins and apples... The story is a suitable opportunity to talk about these topics with young children.
๐ The story contains many good values and qualities that one should possess >> helping neighbors and the elderly.. being patient.. cooperation and participation.. working hard and diligently.. showing kindness to people.. giving gifts to them.. charity to those in need.. loving and preserving nature that God has given us.. showing mercy to different animals and birds as the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised us.. and many, many more moral concepts and values found within the story.
๐ The illustrations in the story are very delicate and distinctive, and many paintings can be inspired by them.. We made a paper art activity of a pumpkin.. And many interactive questions can be asked about the illustrations in the story, especially with children aged 4 and above.

We loved the story very much, and we loved its illustrations, and we loved the moral concepts included in it, and we loved the warm village atmosphere, and that beautiful relationship between the young boy and the old grandmother.

๐ฟ A small comment:
The story's content is strong in teaching patience... and we can consider it a symbolic story... how? Anything we learn in life requires patience until we "reap the fruit"... To teach a child to read, for example, they need to learn letters, their shapes, and vowel marks..... To teach a chapter from the Quran, the child needs a lot of memorization... and so on. We can teach the child not to rush the result... but to do their best continuously, rely on God, and be patient until they "reap the fruit of their success"
